Central Kerala is the birthplace of the well-known fish curry dish known as fish masala. It is said that the recipe was created in the fifteenth century, when the Portuguese ruled this region of the nation.
According to legend, the traditional fish curries of Kerala were too hot for the Portuguese authorities, so a woman by the name of “Molly” added coconut milk to reduce the heat and used mild green chilies in lieu of the red ones. As a result, the meal came to be called “fish molee.
