Iranian Biryani

Iranian biryani known as “Tahchin,” has a rich history dating back centuries. This savory dish is a unique blend of rice, yogurt, and saffron, often layered with chicken or meat. Notable in Iranian culinary culture, Tahchin has earned a spot on the wall of fame for its delectable taste and cultural significance. Legend has it that Tahchin was a favourite of Persian royalty, particularly during the Safavid era.

One fun story involves a clever cook who supposedly created Tahchin by accident. The cook, attempting to salvage overcooked rice, added yogurt and saffron, resulting in the delightful creation we now celebrate. This tale adds a touch of whimsy to the dish’s origins.
